Where the Trave flows

The Trave originates in Ostholstein near Gießelrade. Up to the Baltic Sea in which the river flows would be only 10 kilometres away. But a moraine ridge blocks the direct path. Thus the Trave makes a 124 kilometres zigzag detour through the county and also through the district Segeberg. It reaches the district south of Sarau, flows past Glasau and Travenhorst, crosses the Warde Lake, lets Groß Rönnau lay in the north and Klein Rönnau in the south, touches the market town Bad Segeberg and leaves the district again south of Traventhal.
