Communal independence since the 28th June 1875

Alveslohe situated in good distance to Hamburg is according to its historical origin an old Saxon scattered settlement. Many single farmsteads like Wierenhorst, Auf der Höcht, Fischwehr, Schäferei, Brunskamp and Scheedboom still point to that fact.

The village name goes back to the owner of the nearby situated estate Kaden, whose mane was in then-writing style"von Alverslo" and represented at the same time the village authority. Already in 1292 a certain Henricus von Alverslo is being mentioned as a witness in a right's trade.

Ancestral seat was by now the "Wasserburg" at thePinnau, whose moat rudiments were still in existence at the beginning of the 20th century. During the War of the Swedish-Polish Successionthe estate building onKaden as well as the estate archive in the year 1658 was burned down. The present estate building was built around 1700 by the well-known master builder Sonnin on order by Bendix von Ahlefeldt. That very squire is thank for another historical feat: He was the first to abolished in 1709 bondage in the whole of the Holstein. Since the 28th June 1875, the date of the"redemption contract of land charges", the villages Ellerau and Alveslohe have their communal independence.

Alveslohe and Ellerau as well as the rural district Kaden form administratively the borough Kaden. In 1928 the rural district Kaden was abolished and urbanised into the area Alveslohe. Since that time Alveslohe developed into a ambitious community with nature connected agricultural basic structure. Thanks to its mix of tradition and future orientation it will stand up to present as well as future problems.
