The cave's floor plan correlates with a semicircle. With a total length of 2260 metres, including different side paths it is North Germany's biggest cave. Only part of the path is open to the public.
It's a wondrous, wonderful world down here, with the gaps, the fillets, the different »halls«, the stone figures formed by water. On and off the visitor has to duck his head as the rugged cave ceiling is in a few places very low. The constant air temperature is 9° Celsius, the humidity nearly 100 %. The cave's age is estimated by experts of around 5.000 years.
